Account Manager
Genuine Article, and independent communications firm, is seeking a proven communicator who helps enhance clients’ public reputation through positive third-party endorsement and conversation. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, thrives in a fast-paced environment, exceedingly organized, can juggle multiple projects simultaneously while working with internal and external team members and clients, and has a passion for impact-oriented work.
The individual should demonstrate understanding of best practices to create compelling content, secure earned media coverage, have exceptional writing skills, and show a commitment to the success of others – including their team and their clients.
Contact and connect
Responsible for day-to-day account. Management including internal and external contact; serve as the first stop for team members to ensure account needs are met; provide expert service to clients; help manage multiple projects by anticipating challenges; proactively offer solutions; respond in a timely manner.
Look, learn, and leverage
Support the development and execution of communications plans through oversight of effective research, analysis, insights, strategy definition, development of compelling content, and deployment.
Excel at execution
Act as a passionate brand steward, ensuring that delivery is consistent at every touchpoint; build and manage project timelines; ensure all necessary deliverables and deadlines are met; excellent organizational skills to organize pertinent details in weekly status reports, recap reports, and agendas for all internal and client meetings
Tell the story
Develop written materials, which may include PR plans, press releases, media advisories, byline/op-ed articles, award submissions, speeches, social media posts, website content, internal communications, and more.
Chase down the opportunity
Ideate and develop story ideas and topic angles for pitching and pitch media, outlets, influencers and other third parties to attempt to secure earned coverage; source information, interviews, facts and logistics from clients and package appropriately for pitching; seek brand-aligned partners to engage in thought-provoking conversation; monitor media outlets and understand industry-related issues that directly and indirectly affect the client(s).
REQUIREMENTS
- One to three years of communications experience (agency preferred) or related industry experience that provides an understanding of public relations, advertising, marketing, media, creative, digital media, production, research, etc.
- Experience managing projects from inception to production.
- Able to work under pressure, with strict guidelines and within a fast-paced environment.
- Outstanding presentation, communication, and writing skills.
- Authentic interest in current events and passion for understanding a client’s business.
- Professional and adept, with a fun spirit and a can-do/will-do attitude.
- Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communications, or marketing-related field (preferred).

Public Relations Intern
Genuine Article, an independent communications firm, is seeking a public relations intern with outstanding communication, written, organizational, research and problem-solving skills to help tell stories for clients ranging from nonprofits and causes to national retail brands. The ideal candidate is exceedingly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, can juggle multiple projects simultaneously has a passion for impact-oriented work on a local and national scale.
Keep a finger on the pulse
Monitor industry and competitor news to share insights with teams in real time; track earned media coverage and conversations about client(s), preparing regular coverage report; research, develop media lists, and build relationships with members of the press or community that will be relevant to a client’s business or future pitch angles.
Tell the story
Draft earned media materials, including pitch letters, press releases, briefing books/backgrounders; conduct research projects; develop materials for owned and shared brand communications, such as native content, social media, partner emails, scripts, and more; coordinate logistics for interviews and assist in managing contact between media outlets and client contacts.
Be the connector
Attend client meetings (in-person and virtually), conference calls, and events; participate in brainstorms for new initiatives, campaigns, or business development, and more; assist with development and maintenance of status reports, recap reports, and agendas; take notes and share comments with team members and account leaders.
REQUIREMENTS
- Previous internship in public relations or marketing-related fields preferred
- Authentic interest in current events, news, and media relations
- Ability to think on feet, work under pressure with strict deadlines and juggle multiple responsibilities or accounts
- Professional and adept, with a fun spirit and can-do/will-do attitude
- Outstanding presentation, communication, and writing skills
- Able to work efficiently independently and closely with team members
- Available to work a 40-hour (full-time) work week (preferred) or 20-hours (part-time) per week In-market (DFW) presence preferred
